Back to home

The Fabrique numérique is the digital-services incubator of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. We worked on several of its products: e-Chauffeur, chauffeured-ride booking on defence bases; Stargate, access management for those bases; the incubator’s shared DevOps infrastructure; and a proof of concept of a cloud running without Internet access.

What we worked on

Deliver domain products

e-Chauffeur: three interfaces (requester, dispatcher, driver), map-based ride tracking and vehicle planning (around ten bases served and some 1,800 rides a month before 2020). Stargate: the visit request and validation workflow through to badge issuance, piloted at the Cherbourg naval base.

Deploy in sensitive environments

Treat security, network and operations constraints as delivery-chain inputs from the start: for Stargate, an integration pipeline producing a self-contained archive, deployable without Internet access.

Support development teams

Provide transverse DevOps support: deployments, Scaleway infrastructure, team enablement and delivery-issue resolution.

Evaluate architecture options

Run benchmarks, proofs of concept and technical trade-offs around offline cloud capabilities before wider adoption.

What this engagement shows

These projects show the same requirement in several forms: design useful products while also building the conditions for delivery in contexts where infrastructure cannot be taken for granted.
